Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: June 6, 2026 · Last updated: June 6, 2026
Incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service.
1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all uses of the Solia Wall service, including the website, the customer account, the digital memorial walls, the contributor invitation system, and all related features.
2. The spirit of this policy
Solia Wall exists for one purpose: to help families remember someone they have lost. Use the service in ways that honor that purpose. Treat memorials, contributors, and visitors with the respect you would want for your own.
3. Permitted use
You may use Solia Wall to:
- Create a memorial wall for a deceased person, pet, or other memorialized subject for whom you have legal authority to create a memorial
- Upload photos, voicemails, video, audio recordings, and written tributes that you own or have permission to share
- Invite family members, friends, and others who knew the deceased to contribute
- Share the memorial wall via QR code, link, or social media — within the privacy settings you have chosen
- Use Solia Wall to organize family memorial events, share funeral details, or coordinate charitable memorial funds related to the Deceased
- Create a pre-need memorial wall for yourself, while you are still living
4. Prohibited use
You may not, and may not permit any Contributor or visitor to:
4.1 Unauthorized memorials
- Memorialize a living person without that person's explicit, documented consent
- Memorialize any deceased person, pet, or subject without legal authority (next of kin, estate representative, surviving spouse, parent of deceased minor child, or written permission)
- Create memorials of public figures, celebrities, or historical figures without family permission
- Create a memorial in a manner that is intended to harass, intimidate, or harm the family, estate, or memory of the Deceased
4.2 Unlawful, harmful, or abusive content
- Content that is unlawful, defamatory, libelous, harassing, threatening, obscene, sexually explicit, or otherwise prohibited by applicable law
- Content that promotes hatred, violence, terrorism, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristic
- Content depicting graphic violence, gore, or self-harm
- Sexually explicit content of any kind
- Content depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — we report all such content to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement
- Content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of third parties (copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret)
- Content that violates the privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party
4.3 Commercial misuse
- Commercial advertising, promotion, or fundraising unrelated to the memorial subject (a charitable memorial fund in honor of the Deceased is acceptable; a business or political fundraiser is not)
- Multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, or get-rich-quick promotion
- Sale or transfer of cryptocurrency, securities, or other financial instruments
- Reselling, redistributing, or relicensing the Solia Wall service to third parties
4.4 Technical abuse
- Uploading viruses, malware, ransomware, or any malicious code
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to derive source code
- Scraping, crawling, or otherwise harvesting data from the site without prior written permission
- Using automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the site without prior written permission
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data
- Interfering with or disrupting the service or its underlying infrastructure
- Bypassing or attempting to bypass any security or rate-limiting mechanism
4.5 Identity misuse
- Impersonating any person or entity
- Misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
- Using the service from a country or jurisdiction where it is unlawful
5. Content review and removal
We do not pre-screen Content uploaded to memorial walls. However:
- We respond to all reports of AUP violations within 2 business days
- We may remove Content that we determine in good faith violates this AUP
- We may temporarily suspend an account during investigation of a serious or repeated violation
- We may permanently terminate an account for material or repeated violations
- We will not be liable for any removal or suspension undertaken in good faith
6. How to report a violation
If you encounter Content or behavior that you believe violates this AUP, please report it:
- Email: support@soliawall.com
- From the wall itself: use the "Report" link visible on every memorial wall page
- Phone: +1 (217) 796-2316 (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, for urgent reports)
In your report, please include: the URL of the wall in question, a description of what you believe violates the AUP, and your relationship to the Deceased or the situation (if relevant). We do not publicly disclose the identity of reporters.
7. Family disputes
Memorial wall ownership disputes between family members are common and difficult. We approach them as follows:
- We do not take sides in family disputes; we encourage families to resolve directly
- We will temporarily restrict editing on a disputed wall pending resolution if requested in good faith
- We will not transfer wall ownership without proof of legal authority (court order, estate documentation, or written agreement among all interested parties)
- For irreconcilable disputes, the original purchaser of the plaque retains administrative rights unless and until a court orders otherwise
8. Government and law enforcement requests
We comply with valid legal process. We require:
- A subpoena, court order, search warrant, or similar formal process
- Issued by a court of competent jurisdiction
- Specifying the particular accounts or data sought
We will, where lawful, notify the affected account holder before producing data, unless the legal process specifically prohibits notification. Send law enforcement requests to support@soliawall.com.
9. Updates to this AUP
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be notified to account holders by email at least 30 days in advance where reasonably practicable.
